Rooted in care for creation and love for our neighbors, the Sandy Jones Community Garden is a vibrant ministry of Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church.

Each season, volunteers come together to plant, tend, and harvest fresh produce. Much of the harvest is donated to local food programs such as the Sequim Food Bank, The Ramen Shop, and St. Luke’s Wednesday Lunch Program. The garden is also a place of learning and connection—where friendships grow alongside vegetables.

We recently added a Square Foot Garden demonstration bed, showing how much can be grown in a small space. A new Three Sisters planting, inspired by traditional Native American methods, features corn, beans, and squash working in harmony.

Our garden has even spilled beyond the fence—with rhubarb growing in one corner and a new flower garden blooming in another.

New volunteers are always welcome—no experience needed, just a willingness to dig in and grow with us.

Before it was a garden, this space was a thriving play area filled with the laughter of children. As time passed and the children grew, the playground sat unused for years. Eventually, a young family lovingly disassembled the equipment and gave it new life elsewhere—making room for something new to grow.

That cleared space became the beginning of the Sandy Jones Community Garden, a ministry of Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church. Today, it’s a place where volunteers plant, tend, and harvest food to share with neighbors in need. Much of the produce supports local efforts like the Sequim Food Bank, The Ramen Shop, and St. Luke’s Wednesday Lunch Program.
